A quiet place |
The main road of Sadimara (its unique street, actually) is
inaudible from the land : it passes at about 60 meters, beyond the
primary school.

The main road of
Sadimara. This picture was taken at the entrance of the village (here decorated
for ceremonies).
The path giving access to the land starts there,
right side, behind the parked car.
Red roofs are primary school
ones. The exit of the village is 200 meters away, straight
forward.

At the same place, a daily scene : back from the temple.

West side (valley side), closest neighbours are kilometers away |
West side, the closest road (Amlapura-Amed) passes the
other side of the valley, at about 1.5 km bird-eye. In this direction, closest
neighbours stay even further.
Image taken at
the NW corner of the land, where the path dives to the valley. The Amlapura-Amed
is visible at the center of the picture, at the foot of the wooded
hill.

North side (path side), no neighbour |
North side, no neighbour... and no possible one. There, the land is to steep to build anything.
On the edge of
the land, facing North. The tree (foreground) marks the junction of plots A,
C and D (see plan). Beyond the
path, the grassy hill is very steep.

South side : a quiet family |
South side, neigbour 'Y' (it's a family) is separated from the land by a party wall.
Picture taken in
2010, facing South, before the building of the party walll (its
basement). Right side, the edge of the land, about 80 meters above the level
of rice paddies.
East side : another quiet family and the primary school |
East side (backward when we face the valley), the
primary school and neighbour 'X' (a family) are separated from the
land by a double party wall (2 walls delimitating a 1 meter-wide
passage).
School usually stops around 2 or 3 PM (children go to help
their parents in the paddies). And laughs, that can be heard sometimes, are
everything but noise.
Main winds |
Main winds usually come from West (valley side). They
contribute to reduce the light noises that can come from the three other
sides.
The audible ambiance ? A hen here, a dog over there, and from
time to time pidgeons squadrons providing a light celestial music (they
carry whistles)...
A pidgeon
equiped with whistles. Every owner launches his squadron at dawn. Then, each
band tries to kidnap pidgeons from other bands. At dusk, everyone counts his
pidgeons.
The day after, same game. A way to entertain human beings... and to entertain the Gods.
By night ? A dog barking, far away. Nothing. The music of wind and stars...
